Very disappointing experience from start to finish.
The initial response was friendly and helpful, and I was quoted $523 to replace a toilet cistern. I provided multiple photos beforehand, clearly showing the brand and the cistern that needed to be replaced. As professionals, I would have expected them to check availability and advise me of any stock issues or recommend a suitable alternative before sending someone out.
Instead, they arrived, removed the old cistern and left it sitting next to my outside bin. I was then charged $480 for the visit and work completed, despite the original quote being $523 for the replacement.
To make matters worse, I was subsequently sent another invoice for nearly $1,000 to replace the entire toilet.
The communication and handling of the job were extremely disappointing. If there were issues with sourcing the replacement cistern, this should have been identified and communicated before the appointment, particularly when I had already provided photos and the relevant information.
I certainly did not expect to be left with a removed toilet cistern sitting beside my bin and unexpected charges approaching $1,500.
Unfortunately, based on this experience, I cannot recommend this company and will not be leaving a positive review.

Thank you for the feedback. We’re disappointed this job left you feeling this way, and we’ve reviewed exactly what happened.
The original $523.71 quote was provided to the property manager from the photos supplied and was based on replacing the damaged cistern. Once onsite, our plumber discovered that what appeared to be a straightforward replacement wasn’t.
He attempted two different replacement cisterns, including travelling to Reece to source one with the correct dimensions. Unfortunately, after fitting and testing the second cistern, it became clear it could not seal correctly to the existing pan without placing excessive pressure on it and potentially causing another cracked cistern.
At that point, we had a choice: force a replacement to work and potentially leave behind a problem, or stop, explain the situation and recommend the correct solution. We chose the latter.
Our plumber contacted the property manager directly from site, explained what had been found and advised that we would continue trying to source the original Everhard cistern. As our suppliers were showing no stock available, we also provided the property manager with a separate quote to replace the complete toilet suite.
For clarity, the $954.25 was a quote for that future work, not an invoice or additional charge. The original $523.71 quoted replacement was also not charged. The amount invoiced was $484.39 for the time and work already carried out trying to resolve the issue and leaving the plumbing safe.
There is one thing here that we simply got wrong: the old cistern should never have been left beside the bin. We expect better than that from our team, and we apologise.
Plumbing doesn’t always go exactly as expected, particularly when matching new components to existing fixtures. What our customers can expect from us is that we won’t knowingly install something we believe could fail just to finish a job. We will explain what we find, communicate with the person who engaged us, provide the available solutions and stand behind the work we ultimately complete.
That’s how we have built Capital Plumbing, and it’s the standard we expect on every job.

Had the misfortune of a pipe blockage today, and contacted Capital Plumbing. The receptionist handled my query in a very professional manner, and had a plumber out here in just a few hours. The plumber cleared the blockage quickly and explained the problem clearly so it was easy to understand. Top marks to you both, a pleasure to deal with you.

I am sadly adjusting a once 5 star review to a 1 star. Service in the past was good, however, being con'd into buying a new dishwasher when all I needed was a new hose has left a very bitter taste in my mouth. Have asked for a refund for poor workmanship, and have had no reply. Have had to report the issue to ACCC which is disappointing.
